Thomas Jefferson Eldridge was the 5th President of the Angel's Republic (Democrat). During the short time he was in office the war in Mojave against the Constantine Empire had ended, and the state was fully liberated from the control of all other parties (though he isn't quite credited with the victory, as the previous administration had already almost claimed victory). Eldridge visited Vegas soon after victory, and gave a speech to the city promising a well-funded rebuild of the city. That night, while Eldridge stayed in a hotel in the city, a man named Bailey Barclay assassinated Eldridge (himself being killed in the process). The assassination rose the question of presidential succession in the Republic, as the Constitution hadn't discussed the topic.
